Don’t forget the Whitecourt Royal Canadian Legion this Thursday

By Laura Bohnert
April 23 has been established by Whitecourt Town Council as an annual day of recognition for the Whitecourt branch (Branch #44) of the Royal Canadian Legion.
The Royal Canadian Legion, with more than 300,000 members across more than 1,400 Canadian branches, is Canada’s largest veteran support and community service organization.
The Legion is associated with Remembrance Day ceremonies and activities that are dedicated to the memories of those who gave their lives in WWI, WWII, the Korean War, and other Canadian military missions. These ceremonies and activities include the November 11 Remembrance Day Ceremony as well as the annual Poppy Campaign which is run by Legion members in order to raise money to support veterans and their families.
The Royal Canadian Legion is dedicated to remembering the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our country, but also has an investment in making a difference in the lives of veterans and their families who may be in need of medical care or other needs. The Whitecourt Legion is also of service to the community, providing essential services and supporting many local community groups as well as families who are in need.
In recognition of all the Royal Canadian Legion does for Remembrance Day, veterans, and community members, please remember the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #44 on April 23 of each year.
