Whitecourt and area residents have begun to receive mailed notifications regarding the McLeod River Primary Care Network (PCN). This is part of a governmental campaign to make Albertans more aware of the healthcare services available to them.
There are 42 PCNs across Alberta with each serving a specific geographical area. Each PCN offers a subset of services, some more regionally specific than others. As part of the McLeod River Network, Whitecourt has access to several services via its family doctors and Alberta Health Services. Some of these services include the Healthy Living Program, diabetes management, and maternity services. You can find a full list of the services available to you in this region by visiting www.mrpcn.ca.
Another option is to inquire through your doctor about the services you can access here, or to find out where you may have to travel to if a particular service that you require is unavailable in the Whitecourt region. If you have yet to receive your PCN notification in the mail, it should arrive soon. Hold onto it, and certainly give it a good read over. There is some good service information on it, as well as contact information.
