The Relay for Life took place last Saturday in Whitecourt taking over the walking trail around the pond at Rotary Park from 12 noon until midnight. Twenty-two teams with a combined total of over 220 participants raised money for a great cause while honouring their loved ones, both those who have passed and those who have survived. Over 25 volunteers helped put the event together which saw an increased number of teams from years past. The team with the highest money raised (just under $15,000) was the Windbags made up of two wonderful ladies: Doris Nichols and Ann Marie Brown who wore ribbons on their shirts to honour all those who have battled cancer. Thank you to everyone who fundraised and spent their Saturday walking around the pond. You are heroes and have made us all proud!
