A legend hits Eagle River Casino this month

There are a few music legends that take you back, way back, to a time when everything was different – from the clothes and technology, to society and expectations. Few music legends can take you back to those times the way that Chubby Checker can. Perhaps one of his most universally recognized hits, The Twist, was released in 1959 and literally became a phenomenon – much like the Macarena in the 90’s. To this day, most people can do the Twist – even if they didn’t grow up listening to Chubby Checker.
In 1960, The Twist hit the number one spot on the music charts and, shockingly, it hit number one again two years later – something that had never been seen before, or since. A resurgence of excitement and love of the song, resurrected it for the country and to this day it is a beloved song that is sentimental for many, and nostalgic for most.
