The Government of Alberta has a launched a survey for input on future curriculums. The survey is the first part of the government’s “Future Ready” initiatives, which “will coordinate and improve education and skills training to better prepare kids for success in a changing economy.”
The Alberta government is reviewing all of its elementary and secondary curriculums and are reaching out to parents for their opinions on what students should learn. The survey is also a chance “to ensure that parents and other Albertans have their say.”
To help drive support and increase participation, The Alberta School Councils’ Association (ASCA) is hosting a webinar with the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium (ERLC) on November 8, 2016. You can register for the webinar on ASCA’s website.
Curriculum updates are just one facet of Future Ready’s initiatives. The Alberta Government is also investing more resources into adult education and job training, as well as consulting with the private sector on what jobs will be needed in Alberta’s future.
The online survey will run from October 18, 2016 until November 18, 2016. Links are available on the Northern Gateway Public School District’s website or the Alberta Ministry of Education website.
