The Wellspring Family Resource & Crisis Centre received a generous donation on September 18 from Eagle River Casino. A cheque for $2,920 was presented to the centre from the proceeds of the Finger Eleven concert which was held August 12 at Eagle River Casino.
Becky Wells, the Executive Director of Wellspring, states the funds will not go towards any one specific thing but rather allocated to where the funds are needed most.
The Wellspring Family Resource & Crisis Centre is set up for women in crisis (with or without children). Safe and secure accommodations and crisis counselling are provided to those fleeing abuse. The shelter has the capacity for 13 beds; however, they’ve often exceeded that number especially when children are involved. Their numbers have not shown a decline and the centre has been operating at full capacity for some time.
