Students from École St. Joseph School participated in their own Terry Fox Run last week in the area surrounding the school. As part of the annual Terry Fox Run, the school joined in on the fundraising efforts for cancer. The more money that was raised per class, the more pieces of duct tape they could use for their “tape the teacher to the wall” event. Each piece of tape was worth 50 cents and measured one arm length.
On Thursday, October 5, the students got together and began taping. The challenge was to see which teacher stuck to the wall the longest. The Grade 11 students came up with the largest donation and earned 282 pieces of tape. The students taped their math teacher, Miss Kara Munday, who also won the teacher’s competition of staying on the wall the longest. After five minutes, and still not going anywhere, they cut her down. Munday stated she was very impressed. She didn’t think her students would be able to stick her to the wall as well as they did. She said it was an organized effort and that she was very proud of her class for raising the funds. Vice-principal Miss McKinnon would like to thank all those who sponsored the event and made it a great success. So, thank you to Booster Juice, Abbie’s Catering, JR Integrity, and Ryan Whelan.
