Women’s Conference shaping up to be great day

by Susan Hofforth

It looks like registration for the Whitecourt and Area Women’s Conference is still open, but it is filling up nicely. And that’s because it looks like it’s going to be a wonderful day out. After all, you’ve waited two years for this!

The last conference was in 2016, and as it is every two years, the next one is on Saturday March 17 at Hilltop High School from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. They are partnering with the Pins and Pine Needles Quilt Guild who hold their quilt show every two years as well. The groups decided to partner, instead of competing.

Thanks to the great community partners, the event is not only shaping up to be a wonderful day, but it is also very nicely priced. Registration includes lunch, attendance at four sessions, a gift bag and admission to the quilt show and to the trade fair also being held at Hilltop that day.

“We’ve been really lucky with our community partners,” said Fay Arcand, at the Allan and Jean Millar Centre. “Eagle River Casino and Travel Plaza made donations and provided the conference bags. “The Town of Whitecourt and Woodlands County also provided donations.”

“The theme for the conference is Love Where You Live so we tried to go local as much as possible,” Arcand continues. “The pottery guild here in Whitecourt has made a mug for the swag bags. Everything is local, from the speakers, to the artists.”

Registration is open, and the cost of the day is only $40.00. There is a variety of sessions, some are light, and others are educational and provide good tools and useful information, so it will be of benefit to all.

There is a wide variety of sessions, and with four that are included in the day’s registration, you can choose one on style and fashion, one on healthy eating, one on finance, and one arts and crafts session. Or, swap some of those out for a beer tasting session, or one on pet care. There is something for every interest. Come and network and socialize and learn some new skills.

Check out the sessions on the registration form on the Facebook page for the Whitecourt and Area Women’s Conference, or pick one up at the Allan and Jean Millar Centre. Register by March 9.

People who are not registered can still come to the trade show and the quilt show on the same day.
