United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney has issued a statement following the nomination of Martin Long as the party’s candidate in West Yellowhead for the 2019 provincial election:
“Over the last three days more than 1,100 United Conservative members in West Yellowhead cast ballots for their preferred candidate for the next election from amongst four great contestants.
“I would like to congratulate Martin Long on winning this highly competitive race.
“Like many who now call Alberta home, Martin moved to West Yellowhead more than a decade ago because he believed in the Alberta Advantage. After a stint in the oil patch, Martin took up work in the newsprint industry with one of Whitecourt’s largest employers. A passionate advocate for his community, Martin understands the issues that are most important to the people of West Yellowhead. He will be a tremendous asset to the United Conservative team as we work to present Albertans with a common-sense alternative to the NDP. I am pleased to welcome Martin as the United Conservative candidate in West Yellowhead.
“I would also like to thank Paul Chauvet, Raymond Hilts, Stuart Taylor, and their teams for their participation in the democratic process and dedication to our movement.”
