On October 3, the fieldhouse at the Allan & Jean Millar Centre was transformed by a wide array of booths and demonstrations. The annual Career and Education Expo allowed students to browse through 18 different college and university booths and speak with school representatives. There were plenty of businesses present to give information on the requirements for any career choice. The Expo is designed to help high school students think about which direction they’d like to take. Forty-nine other exhibitors showed students more career-specific options in the oil and gas, lumber, construction, and financial industries, etc.
From the moment the doors opened, students flooded into the fieldhouse which remained packed till the end of the school day. As with last year, Pembina Pipeline offered free burgers and drinks to everyone in attendance. As of publication date, it’s not known the number of students who walked through the Expo, but organizers indicated this could be a record year for students.
