Aging with dignity and independence

By Rechell McDonald
A struggle we will all face one day is how we will care for ourselves as we age. Medical conditions, some untreatable, can make our golden years much more challenging for ourselves and our loves ones than we would like. Many families strive to care for their aging parents or grandparents within their own homes, but this can be difficult if your aging loved ones require ongoing medical supervision, or if they still desire to maintain their own space and care for themselves.
Independent retirement facilities are a great alternative to in-home care, especially if the senior in question is vibrant and socially active. Independent retirement facilities, like Whitecourt’s own Spruce View Lodge, allow seniors to be part of a community with shared interests while giving them as much or as little assistance with living and medical care as they need.
Whether your parent or grandparent needs help with laundry services, cooking, cleaning, or even simple assistance to perform personal care routines safely, facilities like Spruce View Lodge are designed to meet these needs without encroaching on a senior’s ability to live life on his or her own schedule. If, however, more in-depth medical care is required or consistent medical monitoring is needed, these services can also be provided.
Independent care allows seniors to participate in appropriate recreational programs, provide continuing opportunities to socialize and meet other members of the senior community in Whitecourt, all the while keeping their health and safety in mind. If you are in a position where a loved one needs a little extra help day-to-day, and is no longer in a position to live safely alone but may want to maintain independence, Spruce View Lodge is a great option.
Allow your senior family members to age in place, with grace and independence.
