Community Lunch Box (CLB) went back to school with Whitecourt’s children last week. After providing 13,000 nutritious lunches and 45,000 apples last school year, the team is happy to be back in action for the 2016/2017 session.
Citing the amazing volunteers and community support as driving factors of the program’s success, CLB aims to provide every student, regardless of personal circumstances, with a healthy lunch. CLB has been in operation since 2004 and has never wavered in its mission to help kids learn better on a full stomach. Over the years, the organization grew and changed, from moving to a larger facility to opening a bottle drop off with proceeds going to support the program.
While the children receiving lunches benefit from CLB’s mandate, the organization is also host to volunteers of all ages. CLB embodies the true meaning of giving, service, and community spirit.
The apples are already rolling in and the first batches of lunches have been provided. It’s shaping up to be another successful year and you can be a part of it. To donate, volunteer, or learn more, visit www.communitylunchbox.ca.
