The Whitecourt Potters Guild had several booths on display during the first installment of Arts in the Park on Sunday at Rotary Park. Quite a few local artists showcased their unique designs from household items to jewelry, all handmade and stunning. The first day of summer also kicked off with Native American dancing and drumming as the Alexis One Fire Dancers entertained the crowd with beautiful performances including Side Step and the Round Dance. Those in attendance were invited to join in and gain a unique appreciation for Native American dancing. Several took the chance to experience it and learned not only how fun it is but how hard it is, too! It’s quite the workout with intricate steps, and keeping the beat by following the drumming, but having a blast in the process. The next Arts in the Park event will be on July 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. Artisans and performers are needed. To join, call Kara at 780-778-3637 ext 423.
