Region B swimmers met in Whitecourt on Saturday at the AJMC for
their annual swim meet. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., 243 swimmers from 10 different
clubs (Westlock, Drayton Valley, Hinton, Jasper, Stony Plain, Spruce
Grove, St. Albert, Edmonton North, Devon, and Whitecourt) competed
together to improve their times. For Whitecourt's Blue Dolphins, 49
swimmers out of 59 competed which is the most they've ever had. Head
Coach, Alice Boll, attributed the growth to several factors including
cost saying, "it's not that expensive when you consider the amount of
time spent in the pool, no meet fees, and registration includes a swim
suit with cap." She also added that swimmers don't have to attend every
single event giving families freedom to choose which to participate in.
Meet managers, Brad Davidson and Roxanne Amiot, would like to thank all
the volunteers (50 plus) as the meets wouldn't be possible to put on
without them. The season runs from May until August which is when
Regionals take place. The top two swimmers from each event will then head
into Provincials towards the end of August
