Why we should vote No
Firstly, I want to say that the reason I am writing this is because there has been very little allowed to be said regarding any opposition the PC takeover of the Wild Rose party. Therefore, this is just to balance the information/propaganda.
Reason #1: When we formed the new right of centre party that later became the Wildrose party, we did it for very good reasons. Those reasons are as valid today, if not a lot more valid, than they ever were.
Reason #2: If Danielle Smith had not crossed the floor to join the PCs, she may have been the current premier of Alberta. Where is she now?
Reason #3: If Albertans would not re-elect the PCs under Jim Prentice, probably the most respected PC in Ottawa, they sure as hell won’t elect them under Jean or Kenny. Recent polls say the same thing (26 per cent for Jean, 17 per cent for Kenny. More people voted for an un-named someone else. What does that tell you?)
Reason #4: The last election showed that Albertans don’t want the PCs. They were dropped to third party has-beens. Why would we want to associate ourselves with those losers?
Reason #5: The Wildrose party is the official opposition even after we had just seen the party decimated by our former leader crossing the floor with half our caucus and with Brian Jean as the leader. Some of the MLAs remained true to the cause. Have we learned nothing from Smith’s betrayal and defection?
Reason #6: We need to learn from history so it doesn’t repeat itself. Make no mistake. This is a takeover by the PC party orchestrated be federal PCs (Jean and Kenny). If you are a current Wildrose MLA, ask yourself: What happened to all the Wildrose MLAs who crossed the floor? Not only by the voters, but also by the PC party? What makes you think it will be any different for you? Compare this to those who remained true to the Wildrose party.
Reason #7: Again, this is a takeover by the PCs. All they care about is winning. They don’t care about Alberta and they don’t care about Albertans. All they care about is winning. And, they see taking over the Wildrose party as their only means of winning. I am not very sure that the voters will give them their wish.
Reason #8: Kenny is saying that the NDP is joining the Wildrose party to sway the votes. He told the same lie regarding his leadership bid for the PCs. It is actually the PC party that is joining the Wildrose party in order to sway the takeover bid.
Reason #9: This whole thing has been a scam. Everything has been designed to try to ensure a yes vote. There has been nothing regarding a no vote. Even at the SGM on the 22nd, we are only given 60 seconds to present a case. What can you say in 60 seconds?
Reason #10: This is being shoved down our throats!
