Last Thursday marked the 11-year anniversary of the opening of Eagle River Casino. Guests and dignitaries were invited for the cake-cutting ceremony which took place at the noon hour followed by a spectacular buffet supper and $10,000 cash giveaway before closing out the evening.
Former Chief of the Alexis Sioux First Nation and Chairman of the Eagle River Casino Howard Mustus made a special trip to attend the anniversary and celebrate another year gone by and had a few words to share. “I wish to extend my appreciation to the patrons, the Town of Whitecourt, and the surrounding districts for supporting our venture over the years and a special thank you to the staff within our establishment.”
Residents were unsure of their feelings when it was announced a casino would be built but over the past 11 years, the Eagle River Casino has shown it can be a great place for food and entertainment. The casino has been a great supporter of not only the town but also has given to many non-profit organizations which allowed them to keep moving forward with their projects and goals.
