February 11, 2016 Whitecourt Town Council update

 
Town Council encourages community members to attend the 2016 Interim Budget Information Open House on Wednesday, February 17. The event, which will run from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Allan & Jean Millar Centre, will inform participants of priorities and projects for the year, and participants can share their thoughts on this year’s budget. Comments received at the open house will be compiled for Council’s review during final budget deliberations.

Town Council has directed Administration to work with the Whitecourt & District Chamber of Commerce to contact fuel suppliers to explore options to address the high fuel prices in Whitecourt. Recent price comparisons reported that, on average, prices in Whitecourt were higher than surrounding communities.

The Town of Whitecourt has provided its support to Woodlands County’s application to the Alberta Community Partnership Grant. The County is making application for funding for installation of internet towers and certification of the Whitecourt Airport. The Town of Whitecourt has made its own applications to the program for Athabasca Flats East Servicing, and Water Upgrades – Second River Crossing.

A committee of community volunteers is once again hosting the Canada Day Parade this July 1 in conjunction with other community activities. If you are interested in entering a float, please contact july1parade@gmail.com.
