A Whitecourt family received the shock of their lives last Tuesday just after 8:30 p.m. when they heard a loud crash and saw scattered debris and large amounts of water. Tenants of the home said their first thought was that the upstairs bathtub had fallen through the floor. The tenants realized a bit later that a pickup truck smashed through the cement wall causing extensive damage to the home.
RCMP indicated the young female driver of the pickup truck drove through the fence at a high speed before crashing into the house. The driver was taken to the Whitecourt hospital by ambulance and released hours later with no significant injuries. The Whitecourt RCMP and the fire department remained on scene for most of the evening while collision analysts from Edmonton investigated.
The investigation is ongoing, and there is no other information available.
