Flats Road (Whitecourt Area):
The Ice Jam on the Athabasca River in the Flats Road area has broken up and dissipated. Water is beginning to recede from the area, however, Flats Road remains impassable east of the Town of Whitecourt boundary. People are asked to please continue to avoid the area until further notice, as safety is still a concern.
We are in direct contact with all affected residents in this area and are working on a re-entry plan, which includes the assessment of safe access, utilities and potable water. Municipal forces are also in the process of analyzing the area and will need to rebuild parts of the road before public re-entry will be allowed.
Fort Assiniboine Pride Valley Area.
