It’s something people of all ages look forward to each and every spring: the street carnival! Downtown Whitecourt was transformed into a fun zone when West Coast Amusements came rolling into town on Monday, June 5, filling several streets with rides.
The two-day event featured many popular rides from the Tornado to the Zipper, Octopus, Haunted House, and the Super Shot which slowly raised brave riders above the downtown core moments before dropping them back down to street level. There were also plenty of rides for the younger crowd, too, whether they wanted to ride in a fish, car, fire truck, or a train.
The delectable goodies were also a big draw for residents as folks came out to enjoy mini donuts, elephant ears, candy apples, ice cream, slushy mixes, and so much more. From the moment kids were done school and well into the evening, screams and laughter could be heard echoing from the heart of downtown Whitecourt.
The Chamber of Commerce works hard each year to bring the carnival to town and the well-attended event proves popular every time. Beautiful weather was an added bonus with sunshine and a light breeze to keep the bugs at bay.
