The Allan & Jean Millar Centre has launched a new health initiative that they hope the community will be excited to get behind. This initiative is about sharing our healthy lifestyles with each other and the world through social media. The goal is not only to get people motivated to make healthy choices, but to display how healthy Whitecourt is as a whole.
By using the hashtag #healthy100Whitecourt, residents can post photos of themselves, friends, and family participating in healthy activities to social media sites. These healthy activities can include fitness, food, the environment, or even social and emotional activities. Whether you are meditating or tree planting with a friend, share it with the world by posting your picture online with the #healthy100Whitecourt tag. There is no age limit for healthy living and everyone is encouraged to support the campaign. A true feat would be getting it to ‘trending’ status on Twitter.
Hashtags work by compiling images or discussions via the hashtags used. This means that whatever you post with this new hashtag will become archived in social media platforms, and by clicking on the hashtag or searching for it through any given site, you can see every picture or discussion ever posted online using that hashtag. Let’s show the world how healthy and active Whitecourt is by using modern technology to spread the word and keep each other motivated.
