On May 13 the Whitecourt Pond was stocked with trout from the Cold Lake Fish Hatchery, in anticipation of Kid’s Fishing day on June 5. The one-day event will be hosted by Whitecourt Fish & Game Association between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The aim of the day is to introduce kids to a productive sport, or to let kids who already love to fish get some time in as summer gears up and prime fishing season arrives. Access to fishing equipment will be provided for all those who do not have their own, and adult supervisors will be on hand to help and teach anyone who may need instruction or assistance.
This is a free event that will focus on fishing techniques and how to properly participate in catch and release fishing practices. No registration is required for the day, but the event is designed for youth. Adults are welcome to attend and participate if they are accompanied by a child 16 years of age or younger. All sports fishing rules and regulations apply to adults and those over the age of 16 years which means a Sports Fishing License will be needed.
For additional information or if you have specific questions about the event, contact Greg Gilbertson at 780-778-6791.
