Local artist’s murals a hit at WSI

By Nerissa McNaughton

Local artist Justine Vandenhouten was the provider of country-themed murals at the World Snowmobile Invasion (WSI), and her designs were a hit.

“It all went so well,” she said. “It was amazing to be out on the trails and then to pull up to the checkpoints and see my art hung up and showcased. I couldn’t help but smile every time we pulled up to one. Everyone I met at the checkpoints loved the murals, plus it was awesome to see people taking pictures in front of them. This whole experience was great for me to help stretch my wings and try something new. I had never taken on such a large project like this before, but the outcome could not have been better. The support I received from the community has been overwhelming.”

Currently the WSI administration is taking suggestions on how the community would like to see the murals used now that the event is over. You can forward your suggestions to cindy@worldsnowmobileinvasion.com for a limited time. “Last time I asked her, she was still taking suggestions on what to do, informs Justine.”

You can catch Justine and her artwork later this month. She will be at the craft market on February 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Seniors Circle with lots of new art and prints.

Meanwhile, you can check out her art online* at her website, justpunkd4.wix.com/evermore or on her Evermore Artistry Facebook page.
