The holiday season can be a tough time for many families. With the steady decline in the economy, more and more families rely on the Whitecourt Food Bank which puts a strain on supplies.
Scott Safety Supply Services stepped forward December 14 and brought its fire truck and firefighters to IGA while its medical unit and medical staff were at Walmart all to collect donations for the food bank. The company spent the full day outside at both locations in hopes of filling up their units with much-needed items.
Nick Hamann, Scott Safety Firefighter, said, “We came out to support the community by getting donations for the food bank. Any donation is a good donation as many locals are suffering due to the downturn at this point. We want to ask everyone to come out and help your fellow members in the community by donating.”
Leelund Turner, Whitecourt Regional Manager with Scott Safety, added, “The company is proud of Whitecourt and area, and likes to be involved and give back where we can. This is one of these opportunities where we can help and, hopefully, stop the hunger within our community. The new owners of Scott Safety took over five years ago and have a strong commitment to the community in which they work and do business. Regardless of the ups and downs in the oilfield, Scott Safety will be in it for the long haul and will be here for the community.”
