A sizeable crowd turned up on Saturday afternoon to watch the Whitecourt Mudbogs. The family-friendly event was a great hit, offering a little something for everyone to ensure those of all ages had a great time. While the adults could wander over to the beer gardens for some afternoon refreshment, the event also provided a bouncy castle, to ensure all the kids attending could let off some steam in between shows. Attendees could gorge themselves on food truck treats such as deep-fried Oreos and double stuffed burgers and could also fuel up at the cotton candy station if they started feeling too sluggish.
Announcer, Elaine Rose, provided commentary
for the weekend, keeping the crowd well informed, while also celebrating her
birthday.
While the pits were prepared ahead of time at the Ag Society grounds, there was
also a backhoe and skid steer on standby, to reshape the pits and dig out any
water that filled up throughout the day. In between such maintenance stints,
dirt bikers were brought to entertain the crowd by hitting a few jumps. First
aid crews were also standing by at the ready, in case any accidents occurred.
Director, Brandon Murray, said that no pre-registration is needed to participate. Those boggers who are interested can arrive a few hours early on the day to sign up and join in on the fun.
This was the second year for the Whitecourt Mudbogs and was made possible by the many sponsors and dedicated volunteers.
For those who missed out on the weekend, the Whitecourt Mudbogs is hosting a second-weekend event on September 28 ad 29. For only $10 for adults, $5 for youth from 6-12 and seniors, and free admission for children five and under, it will be an excellent opportunity to get out and enjoy the outdoors before winter begins.
