The 2015 Whitecourt Rotary Music Festival begins this week on March 12. The opening day will feature two events at separate venues with choirs performing in the morning from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. at Central School, and vocal solos happening in the afternoon at the Forest Interpretive Centre. The remainder of the festival schedule is as follows:
Friday, March 13: Elmer Elson School in Mayerthorpe will host Choral Speech all day, and the United Church in Whitecourt will host piano performances all day, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Monday, March 16: Forest Interpretive Centre for strings and instrumentals all day.
Saturday, March 21: Central School for dance performances all day.
The great thing about this festival is that it is spread out over several venues which allows people from Whitecourt and the surrounding areas to enjoy and take part in viewing the entries, without necessarily having to travel far. Because it is spread out over such a long period of time, as well, it’s easy to take in a performance or two no matter how busy your schedule is. There is no better way to support our community and have some family fun than by showing up and cheering on the performers at any one of these free performances.
“Our festival is growing each year and this year we have added dance to the festival,” Dian Ferguson, president of the festival
