In a statement released by the Town of Whitecourt on May 29, residents were reminded that the period from April 1 through November 30 marks the time when all off-highway vehicles (OHVs) are restricted from being operated within town limits, and this restriction is regulated by a bylaw. An OHV is any recreational vehicle including quads, snowmobiles, and dirt bikes.
You may have noticed new signage around town reminding you of this restriction but, despite this, many noise, safety, and nuisance complaints related to OHVs have been reported to peace officers this spring. If you want to ride, you are encouraged to take advantage of the many appropriate areas for riding outside of town. The Whitecourt ATV Club is an active organization that is constantly working to develop new riding terrain for local enthusiasts. You can find the ATV club at www.wctatvclub.com and you can read more about the OHV bylaw on the town’s website.
