The Provincial Achievement Test results for 2015 have been released, and the Living Waters students are achieving success. Specifically, the students in grades six, nine, and 12, the grades tested, meet or exceed the province in acceptable standard, and excellent standard.
“The goal of Living Waters Schools is that every student who enters our doors will graduate from a faith-filled, safe and caring environment, prepared for future success,” said Superintendent Carol Lemay. “The overall Achievement and Diploma results are good, and we are especially pleased to see the level of success achieved in the area of High School.”
Participation rates were excellent from all schools at Living Waters. Grade six students outperformed the province in three out of four subject areas at the acceptable standard. At the standard of excellence they outperformed other students in Science. Grade 9 students also did well in Science, outperforming at acceptable standard. Those grade nines who participated in the Knowledge and Employability Achievement tests outperformed their provincial counterparts in all subject areas.
In the Grade 12 Diploma examinations, students exceeded the provincial average in Biology 30, English Language Arts 30-1, and Social Studies 30-1, and outperformed at the standard of excellence in English Language Arts 30-1 and 30-2.
“There is still more work to be done,” Lemay said. “We will use the information and data to identify areas where we need to maintain a strong focus and we will continue to make literacy and numeracy foundational to every subject, at every grade level.”
“Providing students with flexible learning environments and opportunities for personalized learning in an inclusive education setting will help to ensure student success,” she said. “Our Living Waters Blueprint for the Future outlines our commitment to our students in ensuring they are equipped with the education, skills, and opportunities needed for success.”
