Whitecourt RCMP are investigating an armed robbery that took place at a local hotel and restaurant late Thursday night and are asking the public for help identifying the suspect.
According to police, the incident occurred just before 11 p.m. on Jan. 29, 2026, at the Ritz Café and Motor Inn. An individual armed with a firearm entered the business and confronted an employee, directing him toward the safe. The suspect left the scene with a cash box containing money.
Police have not released the value of the money taken and reported that no injuries occurred during the incident.
The suspect was last seen wearing black running shoes, a black jacket, grey sweatpants, and a grey face covering with eye openings.
RCMP are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who recognizes the description to come forward.
