Provincial grant supports Onoway recreation

Oneil Carlier, MLA for Whitecourt-Ste. Anne and Minister of Agriculture, presented a $121,314 cheque to the Onoway Parents Educative Association.

The grant will help make some much-needed upgrades to the school fields in the town, which are used by the schools as well as many community groups.

Communities like ours wouldn’t be the same without hard-working volunteers at community organizations like the Onoway Parents Educative Association. I’m proud to be part of a government that recognizes the importance of our community groups and one that is willing to show its support in practical ways such as providing a grant for this important project.”

–       Oneil Carlier, MLA for Whitecourt-Ste. Anne

“We are thrilled with the financial assistance this project received from the government. Upgrading the facility will help ensure our students and the community at large remain healthy and active.”

–       John Lobo, Principal, Onoway Junior Senior High School

The funding comes from the provincial Community Facilities Enhancement Program, through which the Government of Alberta is investing $38 million in community projects like field upgrades, curling rinks, community centres, playgrounds and other recreational facilities.

Alberta’s NDP caucus is proud to support investments in upgrades and renovations to these important community projects that everyday Albertans rely on.
