Shaun Majumder at Eagle River this weekend

By Susan Hofforth

Could you use a good laugh? Then don’t miss the Eagle River Casino live entertainment event this week. Comedian Shaun Majumder is coming to the Eagle River Casino this Friday, October 13.

Shaun Majumder is well-known as a Canadian actor and comedian. He is best known for his work on “This Hour Has 22 Minutes” and other Canadian comedy offerings.  He has also performed on the NBC/Global show, The Firm and the ABC drama Detroit 1-8-7 in 2010. Majumder was born in 1972 to a Canadian mother and a Bengali Hindu man from India. He talks of his experiences growing up and his love for his home town and his family that will speak to all his listeners.

Much of his own profit goes to charities and to fund his rather ambitious dream of doing something to put his home town of Burlington, Newfoundland on the international cultural map. Burlington is a community hard-pressed to find work for the next generation as its main industries, fishing and logging, are not producing like they used to do. However, it still has the beauty of the great Canadian coast and the talents of a great Canadian comedian like Majumder, who is willing to fight for it.

You can see more of his work on his website, shaunmajumder.com and read about his efforts on behalf of Burlington in the HBO documentary, “Every Word is Absolutely True”.

At the casino, live entertainment happens once a month at the Timbers Stage. Majumder is the headliner this month. You must be over 18. To reserve a table for charity, contact the casino at 780-706-7488. Charity tables are $100. Contact the casino for specific details. Shaun Majumder at the Eagle River Casino, Friday 13. Don’t miss it.
