École St. Mary School has put together a team for the Relay for Life in Whitecourt called “Treasured Chests” and are looking for your donations for the “Change for Cancer” fundraiser.
Students at the school are collecting coins for donation. It may not seem like much, but “a little goes a long way,” says the team. “A 500 mL pop bottle filled with dimes equals almost $100!” Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference to someone with cancer. Money donated helps to pay for research, and for support and services to those afflicted.
The top three students who raise the most money and two students from the classroom which raises the most money will each get to help shave Mrs. Vandeligt’s head and dye Mrs. Turcotte’s hair during the assembly on Wednesday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m.
The public can help by sending in donations of change to the school to help fill the “Change for Cancer” jar in the front office, or contact the school for how to make larger donations.
The public can also help by cheering on the team during the Relay for Life race being held in Whitecourt on Saturday, June 20 from noon to midnight at the Rotary Park! Visit relayforlife.ca for more information.
