Neighbouring residents expressed concerns for their safety and property after a fire on May 11 at the Riverside Trailer Court. The Whitecourt Fire Department received a call after neighbours heard explosions and saw flames shooting out of a large shed. The department responded with two pumpers and the water tender to gain control before the fire had a chance to spread further. With the fire doused, crews assessed the structure for hot spots and removed half a dozen propane tanks from inside the shed. Homes on both sides of the property were affected by the fire. Luckily, damage to one of the neighbouring homes only melted siding. Unfortunately, homeowners, on the other side, didn’t fair out as well. Their home received fire damage in the walls and underneath. This fire is the second one to occur at the same residence in a matter of a few months. The first happened after a camper van in the driveway ignited, causing an explosion. There were no injuries reported at either of the fires.
