Teens have fun at Back to School Dance

2-steppingThe Central School Community Centre was echoing with tunes on Friday night as the Teen Centre hosted their annual Back to School Dance.  Over 200 kids descended on the gymnasium to dance the night away alongside their peers.  From new hits to party classics, that got kids popping out the moves (Macarena anyone?), Night Owl DJ kept up with the constant song requests.  Party lights, a photo booth, cranked tunes and a fun atmosphere made for a fantastic way to ring in the new school year.

The Boys & Girls Club and Teen Centre staff do many things for local teens in the area, offering them a safe hangout to play pool, create crafts, take part in activities as a group and so much more.  There is always something in the works to enjoy.

A fun opportunity that just started up allows teens to showcase their artistic abilities in creating a logo design.  The contest is for kids in grades 6-12 and the deadline for entries is October 31st.  Needing a new logo, the centre staff decided to open it up to the teens of the community, encouraging them to have fun and be creative.  Visit the Teen Centre up town at the Carlan Community Resource Centre for more information or join their Facebook page, “Whitecourt TeenCentre.”
