Veteran Oilfield Services PBR a big success

Veteran Oilfield Services grabbed the bulls by their horns and brought them to Whitecourt for the first ever local Professional Bull Riders (PBR) show. The Alpha Bull Canadian Touring Pro Division rocked the Scott Safety Centre on Friday, August 10 and transformed the space into something that no-one has ever seen before. With tons of dirt, fencing, chutes, big lights, and a massive screen, the arena looked more like a rodeo grounds than a place to play hockey.

The big show brought out a big crowd with hundreds of excited fans in the seats from big kids to little cowpokes. One by one the riders tied themselves into position onto raging bulls that were ready to break free of the chute to throw them off. It’s no wonder they call it the longest eight seconds ever as riders used all their might to stay onboard while the bulls kicked, spun, dipped, and jumped while trying to free themselves of their riders.

Veteran Oilfield Services enlisted a lot of help to get the show rolling including Town of Whitecourt Arts and Culture Co-ordinator Courtney Milford who referred to her massive list of resources. Several groups tended to the security and the various alcohol, 50/50, and merchandise tables including the Performing Arts Society, Whitecourt Taekwondo, Whitecourt Karate, ECHO Society, and Victims Services. Milford enlisted a big group of town employees to help. too.

Veteran Oilfield Services brought in countless sponsors to make the show a big success and was no doubt happy to see a packed house with over 500 attendees in general admission and over 200 in the VIP section down on the ground floor. With 30 riders and Canada’s toughest bucking bulls, the evening show was exciting, exhilarating, and a site to behold. Add in a few funny moments as the camera crew panned the crowd for great dancers and it became an all-around fantastic event.

Riders came in from across Alberta and Saskatchewan but also from as far away as Mexico and Australia. There was one local rider in the mix as Bradley Ingersoll rode Obvious Enterprises Savage Sensation sponsored by Roszko Farms.
