The annual banquet to honour the work the volunteer firefighters do in our community took place on October 25. The 2014 Awards Night ceremony is a time for the firefighters to pay tribute to their own, and for the community to recognize and thank them for the work they do on our behalf.
The following awards were given out on Saturday night. These winners have given wonderful service to our community and to each other.
• 20 Year Exemplary Service Award – Chief Brian Wynn
• 20 Years of Service Recognition – Lt. Dan Janke
• NFPA 1001 Certificates – Firefighters Daniel Steinke, Chris Keay, Michael Duncan
• Pete Heck Award (given to a firefighter always willing to give help to his or her fellow firefighters whenever it is needed) – Senior Firefighter BJ Davis
• Officer of the Year – Lt. Dwayne Ethier
• Firefighter of the Year – Senior Firefighter Taya Green
Firefighters play an important role in our, and every, community. They are here to help educate us to live as safely as possible, they are here to help with fundraising when organizations need assistance, and they are here to risk their own lives to be here helping us on the worst days of our lives. And for that, we can only say “thank you.”
