Whitecourt gets more affordable child care spaces

 

 

More families in Whitecourt will have access to affordable child care, thanks to a provincial funding announcement for 53 newly affordable spaces.

 

The Whitecourt Early Learning and Childcare Centre will now be able to offer 53 of its existing child-care spaces to parents at no more than $25 per day.

 

Whitecourt-Ste. Anne MLA Oneil Carlier has advocated for more of these affordable spaces in this community and is happy with the results.

By opening newly affordable spaces across Alberta we will make an incredible difference for working parents by providing high-quality child care at a price that helps families make ends meet, let’s parents go back to work, and creates hundreds of jobs while creating a brighter future for Alberta.”

This week Premier Rachel Notley and Children’s Services Minister Danielle Larivee announced that 100 new Early Learning and Child Care Centres across the province would be added to the existing 22 centres that opened last year as part of a province-wide pilot project.

 

With a total of 7,300 spaces now across the province, this program is expected to create 450 child-care jobs, empower more than 1,400 parents to enter or re-enter the workforce, and put big smiles on thousands of little faces.
