June 3rd marked another successful Tim Hortons’ Camp Day, the date when Tim Hortons’ owners donate 100 per cent of their coffee sales to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation. It’s the Foundation’s largest annual fundraising initiative. Last year, this single day raised over $11 million dollars!
Whitecourt residents did their share last Wednesday by indulging in two passions: drinking coffee and helping raise money for a worthy cause. The Tim Hortons “up the hill” location was happy to report raising $9,581.65.
In a statement on the Foundation’s website, President Bill Moir expressed his thanks saying, “It’s overwhelming each year to see how our guests come together to support the Foundation. On Camp Day, buying a cup of coffee and participating in the many activities helps contribute to a positive change in a child’s life. And that’s a good feeling.”
The Tim Hortons’ Children’s Foundation was formed in 1974 to help youth living in unfortunate circumstances. The goal is to change the way the kids see themselves and to help them recognize their opportunities. The camps ensure the children have fun, relax with their peers, and learn to do things they did not know they could achieve.
A big thank you to all residents who purchased coffee at both Tim Hortons locations. It may not have seemed like a big deal to buy a cup of coffee on the 3rd but for a child going to camp this year that purchase made all the difference in the world.
