Whitecourt was host to the A&W Classic Volleyball Tournament for the Senior High Schools on October 12 and 13. The girls played at the Hilltop High School while the boys played at École St. Joseph School. It was a round robin tournament with the Sr. Boys from Hilltop taking a win on their first game on Friday evening.

Sixteen teams from around Alberta attended the two-day tournament. After the two days, the playoffs for Tier 1 featured the Whitecourt Women’s Chargers vs. Barrhead Frank Maddock School competing for third place overall. It was an exciting game throughout; however, Frank Maddock School won, dropping the Chargers down to the fourth place in the tournament.

Tier 2 for the Women’s was Holy Redeemer from Edson against the Grand Trunk School from Evansburg with Grand Trunk taking the final win. The consolation final was won by Mayerthorpe.
