Woodlands County held its ribbon cutting ceremony on December 12 to celebrate the grand opening of the new public works building located beside the county office. Deputy Mayor Dale Klein said, “The new building is something that’s been a longtime coming and is finally here. We need to do the best we can to look after the municipality, and that means looking after the staff and equipment. Where we were at the airport might have been okay back in the 70s and 80s but does not work today. Some of our equipment couldn’t even fit into the old building and staff was laying on the ground in the cold servicing them outside.” He said the new building cost around $4.5 million and took approximately two years to build. “The money comes out of the county tax dollars. A project such as this is no different from the paving projects we do. The county will take out a loan and pay it back over several years as opposed to a one-time hit,” Klein added.
