Woodlands County Council discussed the following items at their recent meeting of Council:
Council adopted Bylaw 545/20, Woodlands County/ County of Barrhead Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) and is available at https://woodlands.ab.ca/planning-and-development. The IDP is a land-use plan prepared by municipalities that share a common border. An IDP ensures future development and land use policies are coordinated between municipalities and helps reduce the possibility of future land use conflicts between municipalities.
The next municipal general election is October 18, 2021, and Council appointed Alicia Bourbeau, Director, Corporate Services, as Returning Officer. New to the upcoming election, Municipal Affairs has included the ability for a municipality to establish multiple locations to receive nomination papers from candidates. Council adopted Bylaw 560/20, 2021 Establishing Nomination Locations, allowing nominations to be accepted at the Whitecourt Municipal Office and the Fort Assiniboine Regional Office. Nominations open on January 1, 2021.
Woodlands County entered a three (3) year Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) agreement with Barrhead & District FCSS Society. The agreement, valued at $12,500 per year, provides access to programs and services for Fort Assiniboine and Goose Lake area residents.
Woodlands County Council continues 2021 budget discussions on Friday, November 20, 9 am and Tuesday, November 24, 9 am, held electronically and streamed on the Woodlands County YouTube channel.
