It’s been an achievement for the Whitecourt Cats team to make it to the Provincials playoffs. On November 10 they traveled to St. Albert to go against the Sky Hawks for the trophy.
The Cats had an outstanding season with remarkable game wins overall but were not able to get ahead against the Sky Hawks. The score closing out the first quarter was 7-0. Heading into the second quarter, Scott Fleet was executing a running play when he took a hard hit resulting in a broken thumb with Kevin Blain stepping in for Fleet. The score at halftime mark was 19-0. At the end of the third quarter, the Cats made it onto the board with two points. The team played hard and despite lagging on the scoreboard, they never gave up and continued to play as aggressive as ever. Before the game closed out, the Cats scored a touchdown ending the game with a final score of 31-9.
