Just before noon on January 4, the Whitecourt Fire Department responded to a fire at the A & W restaurant on Caxton Street. Staff working at the time said the fire started from electrical wiring in the grill. Damage was minimal thanks to the quick-thinking morning supervisor. “I’m thankful I know how to use a fire extinguisher,” she said. She subsequently evacuated all the occupants.
The restaurant remained closed for the day and will re-open once repairs are complete.
