On display at the Whitecourt Fire Department’s annual Open House were the interior of the fire hall and the main transports housed there including Rescue 1, the rescue and vehicle extrication truck, and two of the three water pumper trucks the department has.
Many could be seen enjoying the many station points set up to highlight the fire hall and its many components. Many of the 47 active firefighters and first responders listed with the department were there to show visitors around.
Refreshments, a barbecue, and cake were abundant as the department celebrates 60 years. Sparky, the rescue dog, was around to impress children and hand out hugs, while a target practice firehouse was also out front, ready for kids and adults alike to aim at and hose down the ‘fire’.
