The 12th annual Lobster Fest, put on by the Rotary Club of Whitecourt, was held on Saturday evening at St Joseph’s hall. The fan favourite event which featured fresh east coast lobster, was a big success. There were all kinds of auctions to get in on and new this year was Eagle River Chrysler which sponsored a car giveaway. Rotary President Nevis Prufer acknowledged the community and the tremendous support received saying, “If it wasn’t for the support, Rotary would not be able to do what it does.” Among the many ways the funds will be utilized include $10,000 which will be donated to the rebuilding effort for Fort McMurray, and $20,000 will go to Eastlink Park yearly for the next three years. Other plans include scholarships, adventure programs for students, weekly free swimming at AJMC, and free skating at the Scott Safety Centre.
