Thirty-seven-year-old Cameron Collin of Airdrie was reported missing on October 7 after attending a bachelor party on a rural property outside of Billings, Montana. Around the time of the disappearance, Marie Shrum, long-term resident of Whitecourt, received a call from her brother stating that his son (her nephew) was reported missing. On November 3, one month later, Shrum was informed that her nephew had been found deceased in a creek on the property.
Cameron Collin was a petroleum engineer with TOPS Well Services out of the United States. Collin was supposed to return to Utah for work after his days off. Cameron’s sister, Julia Collin, has been the spokesperson for the family during this difficult time. Julia explained that at 10:30 p.m. the evening of the disappearance, the groom and guests decided to go to a local bar. Cameron had been too intoxicated and sick to go with them and when they returned from the bar Cameron was gone. The family of Cameron are going through an extremely difficult time and are having a hard time grasping the reality of everything.
Extensive search efforts had been going on for the past month and focused on the property and the creek that runs through it. An autopsy was conducted on November 5 to determine the exact cause of death. Yellowhead County Sherriff’s office confirmed that foul play was not suspected.
